TX Parkour League Overview
The Texas Parkour League Season kicks off in late May, early June. Area Qualifier events occur until late October. The State Championship will happen in early to mid-November.
This competition schedule allows for about 5 months of competing before the finals. The main considerations of this schedule are as follows:
Keep the competition calendar clear during the end of school season before summer begins to allow students to focus on final exams, and end of school year activities.
Keep the competition calendar clear during the highly traveled holiday season for Thanksgiving and Christmas break.
Make sure the State Championships do not fall close to other National competitions such as USA Parkour Finals, USPK Championship, and SPL.
Seasons
Athletes must compete in Area Qualifier events throughout Texas to earn points that will be added to their athlete ID. There are 3 categories of points:
Speed points
Freestyle points
Skill points
There are several ways to earn points:
Attending an area qualifier event - 1 point
Getting 4th place - 1 point
Getting 3rd place - 2 points
Getting 2nd place - 3 points
Getting 1st place - 5 points
Attending 3 competitions in a season - 3 points
Competitions hosted by 3rd party organizations such as USA Parkour or USPK can count towards points with proof of registration and official results of that competition.
Competitors must earn 8 points within a season to be entered into the State Championship Finals.
Point System
Registration
Athletes register to join the TX Parkour League. Registration is $25 per season per individual. The registration fee covers administrative costs to join the league and is separate from competition fees. Upon finishing registration, athletes will be added to the registered contestant list.
Athletes who wish to compete but do not want to join the TX Parkour League:
Can not accumulate points
Can not be counted in official rankings or podium.
Will be considered a “fun run.”
Are only allowed during Area Qualifier events, not the State Championship (unless approved by event management).
Divisions are split into Male and Female for each age category. The following divisions resembles the age of the athlete:
5-6
7-8
9-10
11-12
13-15
Semi-Pro (16-34)
Pro (16-34)
Masters 35+
Birthday and age rules:
Athletes must compete in the division that resembles their current age. When an athlete has a birthday that puts them in the next division, they must compete in the next division from that moment forward, no exceptions.
Athletes are allowed to “compete up”, but not “compete down”. Meaning, athletes are allowed to compete one division higher than their current age division if they are only 1 year or less away from that division. However, athletes are not allowed to compete in divisions lower than their current age.
Example: A 12-year-old who is going to have a birthday within the season is allowed to compete in the 13-15 division.
